Bacillus clausii UBBC-07® is a well-documented and thoroughly characterized strain that has been widely used to help in the treatment of diarrhea. Bacillus clausii UBBC-07®, belonging to genus Bacillus, has been demonstrated to benefit the intestinal environment by modulating gut microbiota, improving immune response, and reducing intestinal pathogen colonization. In addition, it has been found to improve the immune response by stimulating the production of cytokines such as TNF-alpha and INF-gamma in the mice model system.
Bacillus clausii UBBC-07® contains lyophilized bacillus clausii spores, recognized for their beneficial effects on intestinal health. It exists in a spore form to resist gastric acidity and bile and thus reach the intestines in an active state. The spores germinate into vegetative cells that colonise the gastrointestinal tract, where they become a part of the normal gut microflora and confer their beneficial effects. The advantage of B.clausii UBBC-07® is that it is resistant to a wide range of antibiotics and can be administered concomitantly.
Lactobacillus Bacillus clausii is commonly found in nature, such as soil, water, and dairy products. Multiple studies prove B.clausii to be a safe probiotic with no serious adverse effects reported from human trials even with long-term use, making it one of the most trusted strains for Bacillus clausii supplements production. Once ingested, Bacillus clausii UBBC-07® germinates into active vegetative cells that colonise the GI tract for at least seven days. The mechanism of action is twofold:
Competitive exclusion (CE): UBBC-07® produces copious amounts of bacteriocins that inhibit the growth and attachment of enteropathogenic bacteria like Salmonella typhi and Clostridium difficile.
Enhanced immune response: The production of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) stimulates the innate immune response by activating macrophages, T lymphocytes, and dendritic cells.
The standard dose of Bacillus clausii spores suspension is 1-2 tablespoons (5 ml or 10 ml), twice daily. The product must be taken on an empty stomach, at least one to two hours before a meal. The suspension can be taken directly from the bottle, or it can be dissolved in water.
