| Sacchromyces boulardii is
a live, non-pathogenic, non-toxic probiotic yeast not related
to the yeast group to which Candida belongs. It is resistant
to gastric acidity and proteolysis and when taken orally,
becomes quickly established in the gut. It produces lactic
acid and some B vitamins. |
| Saccharomyces boulardii
acts as a temporary flora to protect the intestinal tract
and keeps intestine functioning well. It works with body to
re-establish the micro-flora,thereby maintaining a digestive
balance. |
| It is safe for all the ages
including infants. Studies have shown it to be resistant to
all commonly used antibiotics(except anti-fungals). When taking
antibiotics ,Saccharomyces boulardii can be used in conjunction
with standard antibiotic protocols |
| Saccharomyces boulardii
has been used for many decades to treat diarrhea. The protective
effect of Saccharomyces boulardii involves several types of
activity in the epithelial tissue of the digestive tract, including
inactivation of bacterial toxins, stimulation of intestinal
immune response, and release of polyamines. |
| Saccharomyces boulardii
has a “anti-toxin” effect against cholera toxin,
and against both enterotoxin A and cytotoxin B produced by
Clostridium difficile .It secretes a protease , which reduces
the production of CAMP , inturn inhibiting intestinal hyper
–secretion. It also secretes a specific protein that
decreases sodium and fluid loss from intestine.
Saccharomyces boulardii also provides supportive interaction
with the normal gut flora ,and helps restore nutrient absorption
capacity to the small intestinal mucosa.
